Revelations from a new garden

1. One tiny seed if well nurtured can produce an entire huge tomato plant that produces tons of fruit. What an awesome world in which we live!

2. If one does not want to grow gourds, make sure the gourds from last year’s sukkah actually get composted before the squirrels deposit them around the yard in surprising places.

3. If I live in Illinois, why are the blueberries at the grocery from New Jersey and not some place closer like Michigan?

4. Organic produce is not expensive, conventional produce is just overly cheap.

5. It takes a lot of bean plants for one pot of chili.

6. It’s way more fun to shop at a farmer’s market than at the grocery store. It’s amazing what friendly people and a sweet peach can do to a community that hardly speaks to strangers.

7. One cherry tomato + one piece of basil= instant salad

I like going to the Farmer's Market as well. There is always more interesting food than the grocery store and it is just fresher. Thanks for letting me read your blog. It was the first one I officially read.
