School's Out For The Summer
I do not know when it happened exactly, but I actually like my job. I mean, really like it and feel emotionally positive about the school year ending (not just because it means summer vacation). I’m sad that my colleagues are leaving, and truly proud of what my students have accomplished this year. After five years in the same place it really feels like home; I never would have expected that to happen. As a teacher it seems rare that students or parents concretely tell you when you have had a positive impact on their child. As a teacher, I hope that looking back in several years, my students will remember something of what they have learned or hold onto something they have thought about. Teaching is truly an amazingly powerful profession. I'm no longer a beginner anymore.
